This question clearly shows creationists' ignorance. Yet, because I can't answer this question when I have conversations with creationists, they think that they won and that they have me stumped, and therefore evolution can't be true. But, this would be exactly like asking, "if we came from adults, why are there still adults?" This question is always brought up by creationists maybe as a last resort argument or something but its so annoying.

Also, I hate when people refer to evolution as… Continue

"Where does a rainbow come from?"

Posted on June 30, 2009 at 3:44pm 8 Comments

The other day, someone i'm very close to had just found out i'm an atheist. So she looked at me and said, "Katie, where does a rainbow come from?" I know it has something to do with the sun and a prism of colors, but i dont know everything about it and I don't know how it works exactly, so I took a moment before I answered. Seeing that I didn't answer right away though, and seeing me ponder it, she isaid , "see? Nobody knows. It's god." And I said, "No, its just a prism of reflecting light and… Continue

It's actually quite good. The first few chapters are/were hard to get through because they were just about how evangelical he was and it bored me but then his change and how he started turning to reason is interesting. If you haven't read it, you should. But i'm only on chapter three, but i think its great so far.

And the headline on the front gets you too: How an Evangelical Preacher Became One of America's Leading Atheists

Ahhh i can't stand church... Yes, my parents still make me go. *sigh*. First I have to go to youth group. And what a bunch of hypocritical so-called christians! For the first 15 minutes or so, they talk about what they did over the weekend or whatever, (I sit through the whole thing silent) and they're complaining about this and that and I'm like hello? Your supposed to be christians or whatever and praying for the lord and not complaining or something? Idon't know..so anyways, then they'll… Continue

Hey Katie,
I'm reading "Why Evolution is True". At this wrinting I am in chapter 5. One thing I like about Coyne's book is that he does compare how Evolution makes predictions about so many characterisitics of life on earth and that these can be verifired by observing what has and is going on. He contrasts this with creationsist theory which always comes back to "well, the creator made it that way 'cuz His ways are higher than man's ways" I want make a side-by-side list of what eveolution predicts and what creation science doesn't.
