At seven years of age I was chastised in school for questioning the priest. At eighteen I was asked to leave our local church - apparently my questions de-converted two other members...
I was, according to religious family members, the annoying child who had a habit of saying "But that doesn't make any sense!"
I may have switched from forensic science to computing these days, but I still "follow the evidence". As such, I haven't ever managed to get into the "deny the facts" headspace that seems necessary for following any religion.

Hello Katie, and welcome to this friendly meeting place where we recognise, like you do as an atheist, that gods are all phoney and religions are cunning frauds used to control people;
and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and more.
