Hey Julian,

A friend sent me the link to your message on the Heathen Homeschoolers group because you were looking for support in the Atlanta area. I'm a homeschooling mom out in Barrow county. I have three young children, but we've been doing this for a while. There is support out there for the nonreligious, you just have to know where to find it.

Have you or your parents looked up the Creative Home Educators groups on Yahoo? There is one for North of Atlanta, and another for South. I have the link for the North group:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CreativeHomeEducators-NorthGeorgia/

If you are interested in the other direction, just do a search on Yahoo. There is also a group named SHOG (Secular Homeschoolers of Georgia)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SecularHomeschoolersofGeorgia/

I think you might find a lot of support in these two groups.

The CHE group does have religious members, but it's not discussed in the group. In fact, the Gwinnett portion of CHE (of which I am a member) is almost entirely atheist/agnostic. Unfortunately, I don't know any high school homeschooled kids, but I am sure there are some on the list.

I hope this helps! Feel free to contact me, or even have your parents email me if you have more questions.

Hello Julian. Welcome to this friendly meeting place with freethinkers who recognise that religions exist to control vulnerable superstitious people including defenceless children;
and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and even longer.

Hi, I see that you have an interest in Paleontology, well when you start considering colleges, don't forget Montana State University. Although I am not a part of the paleontology curriculum here, I hear that it is one of the best in the country.
