How Dungeons & Dragons changed my view on "Gods"

Posted on April 25, 2012 at 12:25am 4 Comments

Many people I know play Dungeons and Dragons as a hobby. I really started to think about it the other day and I realized that It played an integral role in shaping my mind to think more rationally, even though it deals with mostly fantasy aspects of fiction.

I started playing when invited and enjoyed making characters and trying out new voices and pretending to have the different attitudes of the characters I was portraying (not as serious as it sounds, just a bunch of guys sitting…

Hey Josh. Awhile back, few years ago, while reading some Plato, atheism was mentioned in a footnote. Not called atheism by Plato, Socrates, or that group, but the meaning basically the same. At the time, it meant if you did not believe in the other persons god, you were an atheist. Still could beleive in your own and practice it. So all religions, according to that definition, are atheistic. Pretty funny, huh. Well, peace, my young friend.

Hello Joshua
Welcome to this world of rationality, truth and peace, where common sense helped by science leads to freethinking wisdom --- as you know as an atheist.

We invite you to make good friends by joining the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Astronomy, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Gods, Atheism, Evolution, Darwin..." with 675 discussion topics and 3400 members.

Please consider joining a group to meet people and talk about anything that's on your mind, Hang With Friends. After you've searched for stuff that interests you in "Groups" above and in the "Forums", don't forget to look at recent activity which hides along the right margin of the page all the way at the bottom.
