The Blasphemy Challenge.

Posted on September 1, 2008 at 5:12am 2 Comments

I think The Blasphemy Challenge is a brilliant initiative for a number of reasons;

It plays a part in consciousness raising - making it obvious to the world that we infidels are numerous beyond popular speculation. I also think that the challenge might, over time, empower the idea that being religious is embarrasing, and we make no reservations when it comes to lashing out.

I think it might have an impact on the number of Atheists who make themselves known as such, and who… Continue

One can't help but wonder if Christianity seems a slight bit forgetful when they so vehemently pronounce that the good book lives up to its ill-begotten name. There seems to be a chasm filled with ardent terror in Christian history leading up to our modern age, but do they remember? Have we heard any apologies? Were there any memorial ceremonies held for their victims?

Hi. I am also from South Africa. You may be interested to see my reply today under the discussion "No! We can't just get along" regarding South Africa - to agree with them or to dispute them. Whichever. Do you like modern / contemporary classical music?

You said in a forum post that atheists are scarce in your local. On http://atheists.meetup.com/ there are 17 people waiting for someone to start an atheist meetup group in Johannesburg.

I guess that does make you scarce. :/
