About Me
I was born a raised in Texas and grew up in the Baptist church. I left the church at around 12 years old and have never looked back. I realized as a kid that religious faith was nothing more than wishful thinking rooted in an old book of fables, folk stories and borrowed allegory.

I moved to the Toronto area about 2 years ago and own a mortgage/finance brokerage in the North York region. I am married to the kindest and most gracious woman I have ever met and have two beautiful young sons.

I enjoy the outdoors, I like to ski, sail, fish, bike, skateboard, etc... I am a guitarist with a passion for neoclassical and progressive rock and I compose and record my own music to suit my tastes. I have been into astronomy and deep space astro-photography for about 20 years. I have seen all the creation I need to through the delicate eyepiece of my telescope. I have a heavy interest in theoretical physics, quantum theory and string work currently done by Edward Witten. I have read all of the great writings of Newton, Plato, Feinman, Hawking, Dawkins and just about everyone else who has something intelligent and rational to offer as to our strange existence.

I have been fascinated since I was a child at the fact that we are beings capable of logical deduction based on observation and have the abilities to rationalize those gatherings. I am also most captured with the thoughts about consciousness. We are truly unique and the world we live in is quite delicious for the appetite of contemplation. A very wonderful quote by J. B. S. Haldane drives my uncontrollable appetite for free thought:

"The universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose."

These magnificent words render religious faith completely useless for me. My mind is far from "made up".

The universe is a majestic weave of fantasy and wonder held together by the simplest of forces. Elusive simplicity is that which makes man strive harder to understand that which seems impossible.

One who thinks of these things is who I am.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.

Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.

Is he both able, and willing? Then whence cometh evil?

Is he neither willing, nor able? Then why call him God"

Epicurus (341-270BC)

Death does not concern us, because as long as we exist, death is not here. And when it does come, we no longer exist.

Epicurus (341-270BC)

It is folly for a man to pray to the gods… Continue

The 14th foundational falsehood of creationism: “Creation is evident”

By:Aron Ra

In May of 2007, former child actor, Kirk Cameron and fellow advocate of idiocy, Ray Comfort, promised to scientifically prove the existence of God on national television,

“100% absolutely –without the use of faith”.

Of course that didn’t happen. Religious beliefs –as everyone knows- are assumed on faith in lieu of proof and regardless of evidence. Cameron and… Continue

The 13th foundational falsehood of creationism: “Evolution is a fraud!”

By: Aron Ra

Ernst Haeckel was a pioneer zoologist and taxonomist whose numerous contributions to biology go largely unnoticed compared to a couple rather odd errors. First, he proposed that “ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny", suggesting that embryonic development reflects the organism’s evolutionary ancestry. To illustrate this, he produced about a hundred drawings of embryos at various stages.… Continue

The 12th falsehood of Creationism: “Creation science”

By: Aron Ra

Paleontology in its early days was a difficult discipline. We had to devise a way to test and confirm the claims that were made because 19th Century pioneers were often confused by their own preconceptions, and often made simple mistakes that went undiscovered for decades. Unwary professors were sometimes made the victims of pranks, and not every respected scientist was entirely… Continue

The 11th foundational falsehood of creationism: “Macroevolution has never been observed.”

By: Aron Ra

You share more traits in common with your siblings than you do with your cousins due to the recent ancestors you share with them, your parents. Deeper down, you share more in common with those in your extended family than you do with neighbors and classmates, etc., people you don’t recognize as part of your biological family. But you must realize that on some level… Continue
