Cops do this here too, for churches and for occassional civic events like bike races that have to cross a somewhat busy road. It's a shame they aren't paying taxes to support police (the instititution isn't, the individuals probably…

i'd have to agree. if people in your town made such a large pilgrimage to something non-religious like the the local movie theater on Sunday and then pourred out onto the highway all at the same time i think the local police would be obligated…

About Me
I've been an atheist all my life, but I didn't realize it for a while. Raised in a fundamentalist home in a small town in south Alabama, I never knew anyone who wasn't a Christian and I just didn't know it was possible not to believe. I certainly realized the problems with the religion from a very young age. I just got really good at rationalizing them.

Now, I've been living godless and guilt-free for over a decade. I watch too much TV and play too many video games, and when I'm not doing that I'm playing 9 ball or sitting at a poker table.

Dragon*Con 2008 Parties

Posted on August 24, 2008 at 10:00pm 0 Comments

I'm going to be at Dragon*Con 2008 in Atlanta on Labor Day weekend and will be involved in throwing a large party in the Hyatt. It's usually one of the larger parties of the con. We will have lots of alcohol and lots of fun. If anyone is going to be there and is interested in meeting up or finding the party, hit me back with a comment or a message.

More on me

I suppose I'll put a little more about myself here in case anyone is interested. I've pretty much summed up why I'm here in my "About Me" section, but that doesn't really capture me and what I'm about. I'm not so much a fan of defining my self by what I'm not; I'd rather define myself by what I am.

I was born and raised in a small town in south Alabama called Opp, a city best known for it's annual rattlesnake rodeo. That is exactly what it sounds like. A bunch of rednecks playing… Continue

Greetings, Jeremy! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

Well I will tell you that I am glad that we found each other. I hope that you have a wonderful experience on Nexus. I am already getting started and it is a most exciting journey. I always felt when I was raised xtian that I was being forced and when one attaches a belief to their life it must be something that feels right otherwise it doesn't work out for the best.

Thanks,
Linda Marie

I hope you were able to see the battlefield not at the height of tourist season. The truth is also...it's all fields, fences, and monuments, and they can run together sometimes. :)

Do you work at a college? I do, and it's the only place in this jebus loving town that I feel slightly at ease. I'm still in the closet at work though. :)

We are frighteningly rare, well at least those of us that are out of the closet. I think there are many atheists in the state that are just scared to say so publicly.
