Atheist Morality

A place for atheists to discuss morality issues. What shapes your morality? What new perspectives have you found since abandoning faith (if you ever had any)? Is there any merit to religious moral authority?

JeniMac commented on Portland Magician Justin Hanes's group Atheists for UFO Disclosure
"I saw a UFO in 2008. Not a blurry light in the sky but a clear-as-day flying triangle that went right over our truck (both my husband and I were witnesses). I'm definitely a skeptic, but that thing was real."

Free Speech Atheists

This group is all about the freedom of expression, from an Atheist point of view. As the nonbelieving minority in a quasi-theocracy, it is essential to all we hold dear that our voices never fall silent.

I took a peek at your Facebook page. Are you related to any of the DeBruhls who live in Phoenix? I once taught a Kyle DeBruhl who was the son of Rick DeBruhl, a well-known TV reporter here.

Good and healthy step, Jennifer, though I know it isn't easy at all. More of us are telling our stories and coming out "into the light" of reason. Nature is central for me on this path. If my book Life After Faith is helpful give it a read. Welcome!

Welcome to A|N. The people here are generous with encouragement and praise. You will have no trouble finding a sympathetic ear as I have come to learn. I think it was Richard Dawkins who once said that pantheism was really just sexed-up atheism. Einstein himself had great reverance for the universe and to him this was God.
