"Are there any other atheist families in, or around, Danville? My wife and I are going nuts here without friends in the area. I work in Cybersecurity and she's a stay at home mom. We have a little girl and a boy on the way. Would be nice to have…"

"Thanks Eric, I appreciate it, I don't drink however, but I will let you buy me a soda. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to get out much and explore, but Louisville is only 30 or so miles, so I need to put that on my list of things to…"

"BC you are definitely in trouble. You'll be limited to activities in Lex or Louisville at the very least. There are good music venues in those cities but everywhere else will definitely be full of the religious. My wife and I have been here 2…"

"So, I am new to KY. What is there to do here for a straight, single , non-smoking atheist? I find that I run into "church" people a lot, and those are not the kind of people I associate with. Looking for ideas, all suggestions welcome! And…"

Seriously, Life interrupted

Obviously, I had made an exit from Atheist Nexus. I feel that I need to explain why it was okay for me to spend my time on other social sites, yet avoid this one like a plague.

My daughter's father had decided to attempt to get custody of our child. In most rational minds this would be impossible, as he had been absent for over 10 years of her life. BUT! He took the case to Michigan. I had lived in Michigan the year before he attempted custody. Here's where it gets a bit ugly.…

I'm in the process of moving into my new apartment. I won't have internet until August 6th. Moving blows ass. Talk to everyone soon!!

I'm so infuriated with the country I live in. Yes, I live in the land of the "free". It seems that the Bush administration has decided that tapping the phone lines wasn't enough of a crazy idea to infringe on our personal rights. The administration has now decided that "some" forms of birth control will be considered "abortions" and that health care providers may now choose to refuse birth control!!! I'm curious, how long before condoms are denied to the public because they are also a form of… Continue

I addressed you as moderator of the Kentucky group, on a Kentucky issue. Sorry if that was a bother.

Hi, Jennie. As moderator of Kentucky Atheists I wondered why your group hasn't been discussing this issue, since it affects your health and pocketbook.

Greetings, Jennie! If you're OK with being active here again, I'd like to invite you to a group where we talk about anything on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D

Hi Jennie! I'm Kris - I host the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.

Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.

Anything you can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a thought:

If the government is so obsessed with spending money on deciding what goes in and/or out of women's bodies, maybe they should just give each women an account with that money so you can decide what it gets used for instead...public health care of sorts.
