There is a time in everyone's life when we are in dire need. It does not matter is you are atheist, agnostic, Christian, Jewish, gay, straight or any other label. An Afterlife Worth Dying For

I live in a world full of faith and fear. I do not believe and I am not afraid. I always found it interesting that atheists I know are often the bravest people I know. Is it because the fear of having no god and no afterlife makes people panic?This Earth is supported by billions(or trillions) of life forms or organisms. About Me: I am a high school student in Miami Beach hoping to be accepted into MIT. I have been an atheist since I was 12. Ironically, it happened right after my confirmation. My parents are very religious but I found it too choppy of a religion to believe. I read the bible a few times as a kid; I wanted to be a priest at the time. I loved the stories but that's all they were, stories. It was really hard to believe that a god existed that dwelt everywhere when I felt so alone and so foolish when I spent hours praying. Now I use religion to earn the trust of my strong Catholic parents by going to church regularly (a gruesome sacrifice) and applying to any scholarships aimed for Catholic minorities.

My biggest passion is mathematics and environmental science. I love calculus and learning about engineering and green innovations. I am a very green person and I have a general love of knowledge and learning. I am currently waiting for an acceptance letter from MIT.

My sense of right and wrong is very liberal and left-winged. I believe in civil rights and freedom of choice (pro-choice, pro-gay rights, etc.). I value honesty and integrity above all other virtues as lies and deception are the key origins of immorality and bad ethics.

I'm waiting for my chance to make a difference in society, as juvenile as that sounds. My goal in life, at least as of today, is to use the knowledge, experience, and rationality I hope to acquire, to create a more sustainable, efficient, and Eco-friendly society.
