Is There a Friend in Jesus?

There is a time in everyone's life when we are in dire need. It does not matter is you are atheist, agnostic, Christian, Jewish, gay, straight or any other label. We are all human beings and are subject to the same basic feelings of happiness and sadness. When a "theist" needs help they often seek divine advice whether they casually think "God, help me" or they go into pronounced prayer. But what does an atheist do?Many atheists say things like that run along the lines of "I just deal with it."…See More

An Afterlife Worth Dying For

I live in a world full of faith and fear. I do not believe and I am not afraid. I always found it interesting that atheists I know are often the bravest people I know. Is it because the fear of having no god and no afterlife makes people panic? This Earth is supported by billions(or trillions) of life forms or organisms. In nature, there are cycles, elements, touch, beauty, scent, reality, and crude, unaltered truth. Nature does not lie to us or deceive us. It nurtures, houses, and feeds…See More

Hello there! I love what you've written here... it's nice to meet you and I was happy to accept your friend request. I grew up RC, too, and wanted to be a nun before reason set in. I also went to church each Sunday along with my mother to avoid the obvious grief I'd get if I didn't go. I joined the choir so I could at least do something enjoyable when there, like singing! This is a great group here; unfortunately I am not here that much - I spend more time on FaceBook, where I am also involved with many atheists, scientists and artists - my passions.

Welcome.

Carol

That's a fine profile you have written. Moreover, you did well to escape as you did from the strictures of the scriptures. [Try reading my own profile on My Page].
Welcome to the rationality and friendship of Atheist Nexus. Do join groups and read a lot.
