My wife and I had an absolutely marvellous time at the Wyoming Mensa Dine-Out SIG in Cheyenne the other day.
A real city (with real traffic lights—it took a minute to realise those were not street corner decorations), fine food, fine conversation, and the chance to gather with other Mensans…

Randall Smith said… I had some trepidation in displaying my "Science, Reason, and Secular Values" poster, plus "atheist" stickers, in my windows. Not to mention my "imagine no religion" bumper sticker. I feared "retaliation" of some sort. But nary a phone call or letter has been received. Whew!
Sentient Biped said… Thank you James. I've been "through" Nebraska a few times driving from midwest to NW. My 16 year old cat escaped from her carrier at a motel in Lincoln, never to be seen again. That was 10 years ago. I still miss her. My car broke down somewhere on a long stretch of road and I had to hitchhike to the nearest town. The vast stretches of fields reminded me of the ocean, only greener and quieter. Fortunately there was a nice person who was not a hitchhiker-obsessed serial killer, who picked me up. I remember most the spicy fragrance of a massive feedlot that wafted past me for many miles. Oh the memories.
