A Friend

I have a wonderful friend named Nancy, whom I have known for only a little over a year now. She and I have a lot of fun together. I'm glad that our religious differences don't play a part in our relationship. She is a very strong Christian, and also one of the most intelligent people I have met. I enjoy talking with her about the Bible and she even let me borrow her student guide to reading it. I laughed at how the book says that there is a certain way one should read the Bible, and that you…See More

Why can't we get along?

I had an English class that is now over due to finals ending yesterday. I was working on our last paper with a partner. He was very nice and we got along great. On our last day, we had a lot of free time to talk about things with each other. I was asked what I was going to do over the break, and I said that I really wasn't going to do anything. I said I don't really celebrate Christmas, but the Winter Solstice, I do. He asked if I went to church, and I told him no. He asked why, and I told…

Heh, jeeze.  I remember what most Catholics I knew were like.  You'd probably get as much out of going to mass as most of them do.  I've never seen so many people just going through the motions all gathered together in one place.

Hmm, yeah, you're going to get a lot of that from the serious religious types.  A lot of them just have this mental block where they can't imagine how someone could disbelieve in something that's so obvious.  I mean it's right there in the Bible, and everyone knows the Bible is infallible ... because it says so right there in the Bible.  :-D

What are your parents, Catholics?  I'm originally from Wheeling, myself, so I vaguely remember what it's like in the Chicago area.  Still Catholics everywhere?
