Irene commented on Alan Bombria's group Long Island Atheists
"My husband and I are atheist/agnostic and live in Deer Park. We are trying to raise 3 kids with no religion, which sometimes is very difficult. We would love to meet like-minded Long Islanders, especially families."

hi Irene!
just stopped by to say hello. I'm originally from Dix Hills, fly back to NY to visit family as often as possibly. I know that sometimes it can be a bit difficult finding a great sense of community in the suburbs, having lived there for many years. A fix I found was an atheist group to which I belonged in Texas (Austin, actually) had Sunday morning meetings, children welcome. That was great, I hope when I settle down someday to found a neighborhood group like that.
Well, I've long since moved from both NY and Texas, but I still call NY home. Maybe sometime we can meet. :)

"The medical profession seems to have improved in some areas at least. Personally I think some of that is due to the higher level of education of society as a whole. We know too much to put up with bad treatment now. I saw a documentary last year…"

"Thanks. Now I have "Glory of Love" stuck in my head. ^^; I'm not sure if I could get used to eating bugs. It's like... if they're mudbugs or sea-bugs, that's one thing, but it's hard to imagine them tasting good…"

"I converted to paganism (through wicca, but didn't stay there) from xianity. During that conversion period, I tried to reconcile the beliefs, which ultimately, I couldn't. There are some who find a way (probably used to cherry picking, so…"
