I am on a quest to find the TRUTH… Advocating REASON, LOGIC, COMMON SENSE and INTELLECTUAL HONESTY, my desire to discover the profound realities will coincide with my journey to fulfillment and happiness. I will not live long enough to know everything about the universe because of my ephemeral existence, but I leave it to the long-term survival of our species to “purge” it someday of its mysteries.
I discarded religion as an irrational thought. The Roman Catholic religious subscription and indoctrination that I had been subjected to since childhood had paradoxically opened my thoughts to question its very foundation. I sought reason for its dogmas yet facts, logic and common sense denuded it of everything. I asked myself: Why preoccupy ourselves with conventional dogmas or the static concept of religion when there is so much out there in the universe waiting to be explained and to be understood?
When men become rational beings and understand and tolerate one another then someday there will be a world free from religion, bigotry, racism and conflict. My optimism lies in the case of slavery wherein modern man has turned his back from it and at present is almost unheard of.
Atheism is the absolute expression of freedom over ignorance and fear about our natural world and the universe as commonly espouse in the prejudices and superstitions of religion. It is unique and dynamic for it transcends belief systems that influence our way of thinking and the way we lead our lives as individuals in our desire to gain deeper understanding while retaining our moral values.
Thanks Ian. :) Your story is very interesting and yes, the world is wonderfully small. Have you been in Estonia so far? I haven´t been in Philippines (or anywhere outside Europe) unfortunately, but surely would like to do that some day. Greetings to you and your family! :)
Tere Ian and wow! So nice to meet you. How did you meet your wife if I can ask? I´ve actually worked in Põlva for couple of years so that place is familiar.
