Someone Mentioned The Salvation Army

Posted on December 1, 2009 at 2:57am 2 Comments

I've had it in for the Salvation Army for years now. When I first moved to Seattle I had a job cleaning their head quarters. Cleaning jobs can be degrading at times, not so much from the work itself but the way in which people that have jobs in the same building tend to treat you. The woman in charge of that building made me feel as if I were Cinderella working for my freakin' wicked Step-Mother. Every morning she'd come in after we'd cleaned and if she found a single tissue in the bathroom… Continue

Washington State

Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places. I just can't seem to find any local atheist groups that focus on doing charitable work or supporting equality in my community. Another poster pointed out that among the 200 organizations that recently supported Washington Families Standing Together, a group that campaigned to protect domestic partnerships in my state, there wasn't a single organization of non-believers on the… Continue

I started my U.S. History class today. I was a bit surprised to see that the first chapter has more of a focus on the Native American-African-European dynamic than I've come across before.

It also touches upon how religion was such a destructive force in Native-European relations. This quote particularly struck me "throughout Europe...freedom meant abandoning the life of sin to embrace the teachings of Christ. 'Where the Spirit of the Lord is,' declares the New Testament, 'there is… Continue

Greetings, Creature! I'd like to invite you to a group where we talk about anything on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D Is your name deliberately ironic, inasmuch as it implies a Creator? BTW, I love cats too.

Isn't that the most surreal/bizarre thing? I hope the creator does more of those.
