Greywolf commented on Greywolf's blog post God's Divine Plan?
"Meant for Steve Would just add that the great men and women of science who've been profoundly religious - even members of the clergy - haven't felt their efforts to be in conflict with their religious beliefs, of course. They've felt…"

"Meant for "Steve". Hope you recognize I was being entirely facetious in paragraph five below. So much for the Pope being "infallible" in matters of faith, eh'? Or would being wrong in regards to what the Church was…"

Greywolf replied to Alex Tyler's discussion What Are "Militant Atheists"?

Greywolf replied to Bob Stewart's discussion Does God really not exist?

God's Divine Plan?

Posted on March 27, 2010 at 3:00pm 6 Comments

Think of the most hideous thing that has ever happened to a single individual or nation. A woman raped and then savagely murdered right in front of her three children, for example. If a "God" really didn't want that to happen, it wouldn't have, would it? Ditto when it comes to the Holocaust and the massive death and suffering caused by "natural" calamities - in fact, all of mankind's suffering

When "the…

The Origin of Evil: God's Dirty Little Secret

Posted on July 10, 2009 at 8:50am 3 Comments

Let us assume, for the sake of argument, that “God” actually exists.

Let us, then, go back in time; to the dawn of time; on a hypothetical journey to the time before time even began; to that time referred to in Scripture as “In the beginning”.

At a certain point during our imaginary journey into preexistence, we will come across God deep in thought mulling over the idea of creating the very universe in which we humans now reside.

A blink of an eye later and we… Continue

The Problem of Matthew 19:28

Posted on July 5, 2009 at 6:35am 17 Comments

It is a glaring “error” that should make even the most rabid religious right Christian fundamentalist wince with discomfort. Moreover, it illustrates yet another example of a New Testament writer failing to give full thought to what he is writing. In other words, failing to see things through to their logical conclusion. Due to the uncritical, unquestioning mind-set of Christian fundamentalists, however, this glaring incongruity continually fails to be held up to rigid scrutiny it so rightly… Continue

Proof Jesus Was Not God

Posted on June 29, 2009 at 12:50pm 5 Comments

"And as he [Jesus] was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone." (Mark 10:17-18;NASB – See also Luke 18:18-19)

Well there you have it. Right from the mouth of the man himself. Jesus admitting here through his answer that He wasn't God and, rather shockingly, that he considered himself less than “good”. That would… Continue

The Atheist and the Good Christian

Posted on June 25, 2009 at 9:20am 12 Comments

Hi everyone,

This being my first blog-post on A/N, I thought I'd address an issue that vexes me to no end: How to deal with the "Good Christian". In carpet-bombing the religious right we non-theists, try as we might to avoid it, end up inflicting collateral damage to Christians who, otherwise, lead exemplary lives. That just gnaws at me to no end. But I suppose the fact that I feel bad doing so is a 'good' thing from a moral point standpoint. But if you think me too weak-kneed, think… Continue
