"I'm single because after I broke up with my ex a few months ago, I lost my job and it took me a little while to get myself together. I still don't have a job yet, and since I'm looking for one and I'm also in school now, I…"
"I've studied under a zoologist who stated as much. It performs almost the exact same function as a lung so there's a good chance that the lung followed from it.
Given the ad hoc way that virtually every multicellular creature appears to…"
"I've used my lungs the way I imagine a fish uses its gas gland when I used to scuba dive. Once I achieved neutral buoyancy with my equipment I could take a deep breath in to go up and exhale all the way out to go down. It also seems as if…"
"That sounds like a pretty decent idea. Its unfortunate that the fossil record makes it difficult to verify transitional states of cells and internal organs. What about lungfish and other partially amphibious critters?"
So in Ichtyology class I was learning about the Gas Gland. It's an organ fish use to keep themselves buoyant in water. One type of gas gland extracts Oxygen from capillarries to inflate the gland, and then releases it back into the blood supply to lower it's body in the water. I was thinking that the gas gland was probably what had evolved into the lung and asked my proffessor if that's where it evolved from. He didn't seem to know but thought that it seems like the only thing that the lung…See More

We debate origins of the Universe, life, Earth, humans, religion, atheism, using common sense, evolution, cosmology, geology, archaeology, and other sciences, to repel biblical creationism and other religious beliefs.
"Totally. He taught Bill Nye, who did the T.V. Series "Bill Nye the Science Guy" that I watched as a child and became obsessed with science because of it. I'm guessing the show was inspired by sagans Cosmos to popularize science. I…"
One can ALWAYS use good friends of like mind ;)~ I respect the no label thing BTW! Sometimes over the top atheists are just as bad as pentecostal christians! This website is really cool though! I thoroughly enjoy reading the opinions of well informed rational people!!
Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its 8000 good friends.
A science-based group you may like is “ORIGINS” (Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion..... ) with its 120 discussions and numerous video films.
One discussion (over 65 posts) is "Proud to be Atheist".
There's much to feel good about
because atheists and humanists hold the intellectual and moral high ground that is far removed from the pathetic superstitious god believers who are slaves to a narrow-minded controlling clergy and their imaginary beings.
