From small beginnings, my road to religious freedom.
For generations my family have practiced their non-conformist beliefs, their Pagan beliefs, since leaving their homeland England, in the late eighteen hundreds with a hope of a relative freedom to practice their beliefs in a new land, Kenya. They found the local’s to have a very similar belief system.
Thankfully, my parents decided to allow their children to follow their own path’s when it came to religion or belief’s. Like all children I dabbled in their belief’s, it was fun, but I never really bought the Goddess and everything has a spirit or soul all bound up in the "we are all one with the planet game".
I had Christian friends, I had Muslim friends, I even had Animist friends but religion never seemed to come up, only that my friends had to perform some strange alien rituals on certain days or certain times of the day, like praying to a invisible "Sky God". Man, at the time I thought, this God thing really gets in the way of important stuff like playing football, swimming or hunting the rats that get into your stuff.
I was what is called today home-schooled, read the fictionalised Holy book accounts of how the world was created, in six day‘s and how he had the seventh day off, because, creating everything and everything in it, can be really hard work, even for a God. How this hippy type guy called Jesus was born of a virgin, after she was magically impregnated by the Sky-God, who is invisible, don’t forget and can be everywhere at the same time. Well this Jesus guy and his family followed a religion that is called today Judaism. When Jesus, after getting the snip and becoming a man a few years later started getting a few new idea’s which really pissed off the head sky-guides, more so when he started to do tricks and magic.
More too come……
