"Hey, I can see why the group is needed. I'm glad there is a group for ex-mormons. It's good to belong to a group of people who understand where you are coming from. America is a different experience for people of color. I can respect that.…"
I added you as a friend, I am from the Ex-Mo group. I am in Montgomery Alabama and my family too is still involved but they are fairly understanding. I was afraid they wouldn't be, especially my mom. But we basically have the same relationship we had before (after a while), we just don't talk about religion.
I hope your family comes to the place where mine is.
Offering all the support I can from miles apart,
Terrific, congratulations on making the escape into realism. Welcome to this super site and its bright people like you who recognise religion for what it is---nothing but a great fraud. God exists only as fiction inside people's heads, and nowhere else.

Welcome to A/N Gina! After reading so many stories from Bible-Belt and Utah atheists, I know I'm lucky I live in the semi-godless Northeast. Although there's still churches on every other corner, religion is just not a big part of most people's lives. Again, welcome to a virtual rational island in your real ocean of insanity.
