Hi Limber Couldn't agree more! Sent one of my daughters to a private school. Then had to fill out a form so she did not to have to attend religious studied. The churches run most of the expensive schools. Kind of goes against what they preach.

Hi as a child I went to every church within walking or bus distance. I was fascinated by churches and religion. This site asks how long you were a disbeliever and the maxim was 10+ years, why don't they have a forever.

G'day Doc: What are you a DR. of? I still have the very first hard cover book I bought. It's called "The wonders of life on earth" it's mainly about Darwin's trip on the HMS Beagle.
Hi Gary.
Well done; you were reading good books from the very beginning.
You may take a visit to MY PROFILE to see my own story, and that I am a doctor of philosophy (achieved in physics 50 years ago). Cheers, Terry.

Hi Doc
Religion may be to are beliefs be a fraud and a great way to make money. But early societies new the sun helped them to grow food. So that is why god as some think exist, is in the heavens. Even as a non theist I know some people that live a better life, even if their beliefs are false.

Hi to Gary Wallington in New South Wales. Welcome to this great meeting place with its rational people who recognise religion for the superstition and fraud that it is --- and that God and gods are nothing but fictions inside people's heads.

Terry Meaden (retired; 60+)
originator of the busy group "ORIGINS: Universe, Life, Earth, Humans, Religion, Evolution, Darwin..." with its 250 discussion topics.

We invite you to visit and make new friends.

Hi Gary, I also live 'in the sticks' in a town with a population of 2,000 - although not quite as remote as you. Brisbane is a couple of hours drive away. The internet means that you don't have to be in a major city to help effect social and political change. You can still stay in touch with what's going on and maybe write a letter to the editor of a major newspaper, or complain about a government policy to your local politician. If we can get enough people doing just that, we can build a meaningful voice for change.

Even just adding your name to our group means that when I make government submissions or comment on behalf of the group on atheist issues, I have the weight of our growing numbers behind me.

Of course, it's not compulsory to join us, but I just wanted to know that wherever you live, you can make a valuable contribution.

Cheers
Chrys

Hello SGecko, I'm not a heathen or a pagan. Both are a religion. The catholic church said the movie Avatar was bad because the people were heathens or pagans. They believed in trees and plants and the entire world was their god. The word pagan was Greek meaning non jew or christian or rustic.
