"Thanks for posting the substantial piece "Learn from marketing to save us all", both articulating a clear vision of that greater good -- saving what habitability our future might have left -- and expanding on how we could use the…"
"Amen! (Reclaiming the original meaning of "I believe it", "What she said!", "Hear, hear!" No gods needed.)
The tools that religions have honed over centuries have been quite effective at reaching people on a basic…"
"A church of atheism's sense of greater purpose doesn't have to be anything like longstanding religious traditions. Those memes are designed to spread the religion at the expense of humanity's greater good. Our sense of purpose ought…"
"Hi, friend, u there? long long time...all of a sudden the idea of a possibility of an atheist church (best call it temple) fascinates me..it being used as a strategy to get nonbelivers organised.it is ironic (or rather a paradox?) that while…"
I agree that many religion ask us to surrender, but not all of them, I don't see that in animism or totenism. I think that maybe the issue with religion is that automatically we tend to think it comes with things like worship, faith,…"
"@Colin, I didn't see your comment before. Don't worry too much about my 'lack of depth', I don't hold a PhD in all things atheist, I just think that we as atheists are often marginalized by mainstream media, often attributed…"
"I think that concept "might" just work as a bar more than as a restaurant. In wino veritas. Booze has a way of freeing the tongue, strangers become best of friends, bad days turn into epic nights, and regrets, well, my personal experience…"
"The level of hatred one must have to pay for something like this. Even if you think that Zimmerman was right, the boy is dead, that's the lowest of the low, can't image what his parents must be going through."

"It's a great read. I personally it's unfortunate that so many atheists reject the idea that atheism is, or should be, a religion. It is because it is protected as a religion under the first amendment as a religion that a child does not…"
"I don't lose sleep over what republicans in general think on just about any issue, but I'd take Ron Paul out of the bag of typical right wing-type of antics, even though he's associated with the tea party, and I don't agree with…"
"Ralph Reed is acting like christians and believers are 'victims'???? There is no war on religion, only a false victimhood for political maneuvering, which is dangerously shifting the debate towards religious right wing conservatives. I…"
Please consider joining a group to meet people and talk about anything that's on your mind, Hang With Friends. I'm all for Atheism 2.0 as Alain de Botton describes it, but so far it hasn't taken off. *sigh* Too many Atheists seem to be stuck in the critique of religion stage, and aren't emotionally ready to move on to reinvent Atheism. I'd be glad of your participation in The Church of Atheism. There's a new group just forming, focused on his book Religion for Atheists. I'm hoping they will branch out to discuss applying the ideas in real life, instead of just discussing the book. Please consider being one of the founding members.
