I agree. I tend to be the most outspoken everywhere I am. In fact, its kinda funny, but now everybody knows me as the "no-God" guy. No one really tries to convert me anymore. I think its because I stand so strongly in my beliefs. Also,…
I think its because of the use of the word free-in freethought. Not to mention, knowing that I am not "the only one," in this world. However, the only thing is that we realize that we are not the only "others" of the world. This…
Atheists more easily transcend racial and ethnic inheritance. We seek knowledge within and outside of ourselves. You will find it is impossible to polarize an atheistic point of reference.
Hi Gabriel. I shared your link on my Facebook page. I am sure there are some young secular enthusiasts out here. I'm in New York, but if corporations can be global, so can secularists!

I think if the "Black Humanist Group" understood volition and logic were factors in determining whether altruism was necessary in a given situation or not I would be more comfortable joining such a group.
Gabriel, I feel you, but you are never as alone as you think you are, now you might not find anyone to cosign on what you say, but I bet some of those around you dont dissagree. However with that being said, its a fact that most of the people around…
Well, look at the churches. They have bible study on monday, choir on tues and thurs, revival on wed, childrens meeting on sat., and service on sun. Why not follow the model. Discussions on sun, drinking on thurs., music and poetry on sat., etc. You…
I understand completely. I do not expect every non-theist to pick up and fight the good fight with me. Some are made to fight, others to support. However, I truly believe that this life is the only one I have. This life is the only one my son will…
I'm sure I'm a bit older than you and I do not personally know any other Black person who admits to being a non-believer. I'm 55 and have been an atheist since my early twenties. I do not post on the forums very often but I read them…
If I had a choice, I'd only work with Black organizations exclusively on every issue that is important to me. Unfortunately most Black folks are not interested in those issues and visa versa.

Greetings, Gabriel! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group for socializing, where we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

that would be very awesome of you. seems like there are fairly active "campus" groups for younger folks, and a few meet-up groups for older folks (40-50+/professionals that have known each other forever) but nothing for anyone 24-40/young professionals/recent grads, etc. at least as far as i've seen. and i'm sure i put forth way more effort towards finding GA freethinkers between here, FB, and meetup.com, than most.

i feel you on the activism thing. i'm in Atlanta, and a friend and i are tryin to organize something in between our two jobs where we can actually get freethinkers together to social network and do volunteer projects or meet-ups or really anything that doesn't involve sittin on your ass in front of a computer. thanks for the add by the way.
Welcome to this super site and its thousands of bright people like yourself who recognise that religion is a fraud and gods nothing but fictions inside the heads of the credulous.
