About Me
Married to 1 fantastic wife. We have 2 memorable little girls.

I grew up as a believer. But, I always had questions and was never satisfied with the answers I was getting. So I started eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge. I found that knowledge fruit to be good stuff.

My wife grew up in the Catholic community. She still believes but, says "Its more like what Bill Maher believes".

We often get accused of being good x-tians.

Still in the closet to my wife's family.

I am fighting the urge to classify fundies as nutbags.

Atheist, Rationalist, Freethinker Holiday

My workplace has a list of religious holidays that they recognized as part of our cultural diversity I don't think the list below is meant to be all inclusive but it is the recognized holiday's. Darwin Day and Evolution Day are the two holidays’ that do not have a religious association. I am glad that they are listed but I feel unsatisfied with those two days. They are too similar and don’t reflect us accurately.

I do not want a day that revolves around a person. Although, Ingersoll day would m… Continue

Freethinker,
The first sentence of "The Creation According to Atheists" is an incorrect assumption,
"In the beginning, there was nothing, the most logical state for the universe to be in." This already leads the reader to the next (incorrect) logical state that something was created from nothing.

Why does there have to be a beginning, or end. Infinity is difficult for the human mind to comprehend. Before singularity, why couldn't there have been infinite other singularities? Matter changes from energy. Light, energy, and magnetism change into matter. Mater and energy are changing states that has occurred for ever and continues to change.

There is no beginning - there is no end, just changing states of mass, mater, and energy.

Oh i hope you can make it. We have family outings as well, summer picnics, a zoo trip, stuff like that, maybe she'd prefer those kinda things?

Yeah, i do wanna promote our group, so it thrives and survives! I think it's important, when i was young, there were no such groups around, at all!!

I didn't watch it. I think they should scratch the game. In the past I found it fun to watch but it changed into an exhibition. Maybe they could have an all star weekend with skill tests and fan participation.

Kylyssa, I was just writing a note about AssociatedContent.com and examiner.com when I decided to check to see if anyone else was writing about them. The point of my note was that we should be more involved in these type of sites as well as be invol…

I have no problem with other people using pseudonyms. I understand that others have different situations to me. This is a personal decision based on the simple fact that there is now really no reason for me, personally, to continue using a pseudonym…

Good post. I hate to admit it, but I still get superstitious when a situation gets way out of control. "God get me through this." I don't believe in God, but it still calms me a bit. BTW Howard and John D ~ Check out the video I posted on Praying t…

Well, as a tenured professor, I don't have that employment risk. But here I am, surrounded by a bunch of so-called scientists, and every public occasion it is still automatically assumed that everyone is 'christian', i.e. grace before dinner, refere…

I must say I have negative feelings when it comes to homeschooling of any type unless there are medical issues that preclude a public education. I freely admit they are based solely on the isolation from the mainstream I felt as a child. From the 5t…

That brings up an interesting question... What do they do with their kirpan while flying? I seriously doubt they're allowed to bring it on board, so they'd have to put it in their checked luggage. If they're willing to make that concession, then the…

Excellent post Howard - I never really thought of "#4 Unhelpfulness disguised as helplessness". This must be one of the ways prayer actually makes the world a worse place. It provides an excuse for inactivity by claiming it really does do something.…
