12 Days of Christmas

From comedian Patton Oswalt on Twitter: The first 7 days are birds & some jewelry. Days 8 through 12 the person is clearly receiving slaves as gifts. #12daysofchristmasSee More

It's funny that all of the items that the song says we wouldn't have without the nativity of Jesus are things that are never mentioned in the Bible and most of them were only invented within the last 200 years.

I support the right of people to do whatever they wish, so long as it does not harm others.  What homosexuals do in the bedroom is of no consequence to me.  Further, I don't see how homosexuals getting married in any way harms others…

The History of Christmas in America

As Christmas approaches and the annual "War on Christmas" revs up here in America, I thought it would be appropriate to look at the history of Christmas in the US.  Many Christians complain about the commercialization and how we have "taken Christ out of Christmas".  I'll bet most Christians would be shocked to find out that Christmas was even less religious in most areas during the founding of our nation.  Christmas was originally a 12-day celebration, which began on December 25th.  It became…See More

I was just thinking the other day how hypocritical it is for people like Newt Gingrich to decry gay marriage when they have gotten divorced and remarried (which, according to all 3 synoptic gospels, is considered adultery).  If they want to…

What really kills me is how many theists will complain about the waste of time and taxpayer's money when a group like the FFRF files a lawsuit over a violation of the establishment clause of the Constitution, but then applaud when Congress…

This is the same philosophy that led to some Muslim women being required to wear burkas.    Hey, why don't you keep those biceps covered up, Rocco!  Don't want to give any women lustful thoughts, afterall.

FreeThinker replied to Markcincy's discussion 'christmas gifts. Should an Atheist exchange gifts on this christian holiday?'
Let's see:  Does the Bible say Jesus was born on December 25th?  Nope. Does the Bible say anything about putting up a tree and decorating it with lights?  Nope. Does the Bible say anything about a fat man in a red suit and…

Watching this as a kid, I never even noticed the absence of "under God", nor the fact that the flag only has 48 stars (as Alaska and Hawaii weren't yet states).

About Me
I'm an agnostic atheist. I acknowledge that there could be a deity, but given the lack of any objective evidence, I don't believe in any gods.

"Science is interesting and if you don't agree, you can fuck off." - Richard Dawkins quoting a former editor of New Scientist magazine.

Hi FT, please consider joining my new group HERCULANEUM: A PLACE FOR MEN. Herculaneum is a group where men can discuss and explore the ideas, goals, demands, ethics, sexuality, and nature of manhood and masculinity. It is a place where we are free to be ourselves, and discuss the issues most important to our identities as men.

I have already started two discussions to get us going: How do we define manhood in the 21st century? and Rites of Passage: A Lost Ritual?.

This is a private group, and discussions can be viewed by members only. Membership is open to men only. Please check it out.

Welcom to A|N Freethinker.

As for the way you describe yourself as being agnostic. the acknowledgment that their could be a diety is actually the norm among atheist. What atheist are saying that there isn't a god, agnostic would actually say is there may or may not be a god. What you are saying that you don't believe in god is what is defining you.

Don't let the christians define you. Let yourself and the people you like associate with define you.
