I was introduced to the scientific method, and also was instructed in no uncertain terms that the earth was billions of years old. I think that in my case it was due to the quality of a few of my teachers rather than the school curiculum.

One thing though, I'm 19 and want to know when you came to your stage of enlightenment on the issue religion imposes. Depending on the tolerance level of the people I'm surrounded by my gauge of how I will convey my viewpoints. Church, on small scale as you said to make it seem like their idea. I've been doing that for a year or two now. Any thoughts of ideas? msg me back if this works because i don't know how to use this site, just wanted to say something to someone in my similar life situation on that subject
