Sounds like Vancouver is a neat place to live. Not sure if I could stand the cold, though. I'm a whimp about the cold. :)

Thanks for the article link. Nicely done. And thanks for your support.

Thanks for all the links. I briefly looked at some of them just now, but will explore them in greater detail in time. I've worked with some Iranians before. Islamic culture terrifies me, though. I am deeply saddened by their torture and execution of homosexuals.

I would not say that I really hide my atheism. From my coworkers I hide a lot of things, as I just will not discuss religion, sex, gun control, abortion, politics, and the like at work. My few close friends in the past knew I didnt believe in god, but it really didn't come up much. I don't really hang around religious people, and the few I did were really quite liberal and undogmatic about it.

My family and friends all know I'm gay, and I live in a gay part of town, so no biggie there. I suppose my coworkers suspect it, but again, I just don't discuss my personal life at work. There is an antidiscrimination clause, so its not a problem. If I had a partner I'd bring him to company functions and feel okay about it, but I don't.

I hear nice things about Canada, except for that whole nasty seal slaughter thing.

Excuse my typos earlier. Also, I forgot to say that while I have been an atheist for most of my life, it is not something that really comes up too much. I won't discuss it at work, but I won't discuss religion, sexuality, gun control, abortion, or politics either. And I think friendship-wise, I gravitate towards people that wouldn't care one way or the other.

Well, that's kind of a tough question to answer. Texas is full of redneck hypichristians to be sure, but I live in the heart of Dallas, and the heart of the gay community here. Ironically, I don't really get along with most gay people, and I do not go to bars or other gay socializing events, except for the occasional visit to the gay democrats meeting. Dallas has been voting overwhelmingly democratic/liberal for a number of years now, so there are a lot of liberals here. But still, there is still a very strong and visible conseratives here, too.

I don't really have too much of a problem or confict with anyone though. In an odd way, Dallas is very laid back. People just don't get their feathers ruffled here too much. It's hard to get people riled up either "fer or agin" something. You can do just about anything you want in the way of protest or rally, as long as you don't cause a traffic delay (cuz Texans are impatient, me-frist drivers).

I take it by your name that you are of middle-eastern descent? Were you born in Candad, or did you immigrate? Do you experience any racism there?
