Well, maybe it's just me reading too much between the lines but I was under the impression that there was more being implied here. But for argument's sake, I'll play along. If it were established that the legal system in question is riddled with cor…

The teacher might as well have asked the kids if they were liberals or conservatives. She simply had no reason to ask, since kids that age cannot provide an informed answer to such questions and I would complain with the teacher about it.

About Me
Ok, here we go. The name's Fabio, I'm a 21yo Italian guy apparently born in the wrongest country possible. On my third year studying English and German Translation Studies. Just done spending my exchange year in Manchester, England, I'm now back in good ol' saddeningly Catholic Italy.

How would I describe my world view? Well, I'm not much into world views in the first place, as they very easily turn into ideologies with universal ambitions. I guess you might call me a naturalist, anyway, albeit a relatively unusual one. As such I obviously trust science and reason rather than blind faith. Nevertheless, I suppose you could say I live my relationship with science with a high degree of openness to the alleged impossible, but not so much that my brain falls out. As Arthur C. Clarke put it, "if an elderly but distinguished scientist says that something is possible, he is almost certainly right; but if he says that it is impossible, he is very probably wrong." Needless to say, such an inclination to even consider - however remote - the likelihood of some phenomena most define as paranormal or plain rubbish has earned me some contempt from the most intransigent wing of even the atheistic community, as if considering extraterrestrial life even as much as probable or EVPs worthy of deeper study would make me "less of an atheist." I fight dogmatism in all of its forms and regardless of the side it comes from, never giving up my right and ability to rationally scrutinise and dissect just about everything.

Btw, if you happen to have MSN and wish to use it to chat, you can add me: fabiodarimini@hotmail.com. I also spend much, if not most, of my online time challenging theists on public forums such as www.mailfriends.com. Might sound sad, but I feel it is my duty to do it.

Thanks for joining X-Philes. I can understand your position on paranormal stuff; if there's something there I definitely want to investigate it. But I need proof before I can really take it seriously, since so much has been shown to be a fraud in the past. I don't want to be gullible or hard-headed, just healthily skeptical.

Fabio,
You are in England now; I hope the studies go well for you there. It seems you have a penchant for living where the atheists are challenged. Manchester is the only place in England which has increasing Church attendance. I guess that is better than having the pope in the neighbourhood.

But Fabio you must admit getting PP spun is fun. I did it just a few minutes ago.
I just finished Why Darwin Matters – quite like it.

When semantics takes its toll.

I should be entertaining myself with homework and assignments, but I've realised there's something bugging me far too much for me to let it go unnoticed any longer. I've been out of the whole online debating scene for a few months. I'm not sure whether I've grown tired of always fighting the same people or if I've become physically unable to tolerate their use of the same, old, stretched arguments over and over again. Whatever the reason, the mere idea of logging in on a public forum and engage… Continue

I'm speechless...

Assailed by boredom I, perhaps incautiously, decided to have a look at some creationist websites to have a laugh. I do it from time to time, to catch up with the new silly arguments they manage to come up with - if they even do. This is a little something I found on www.creationism.org and I thought I'd share with the world. Also, it was obviously placed in a page titled "Evolution"… Continue

I write. I intend it as a broad statement, just as much as 'aerobic organisms require oxygen.' It would, in fact, be more correct to say that writing has come to be a prerequisite for my own well-being, as I have painfully found out in circumstances that made it impossible for me to write anything creative for long periods of time. Ah, daily routine, how I loathe thee!

I write for many reasons, probably for more than I can consciously put my fingers on. Most times, as I sit down in front of my… Continue
