This happened when I was attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh

Here it is the story of how my college flatmates and I held a group of Jehovah's Witnesses hostage for about 9 hours.

This happened when we were in our 3rd year of college. My friend Dan and I were studying special makeup effects and his girlfriend Rebecca was studying painting and graphic design. We all shared a flat and it was pretty much decorated like the Addams family lived there. With rather ghastly things from school projects we had all done over our time there. For a laugh we had taken a fake corpse in a casket I had made and we put a glass top on it and were using it for a coffee table and in a corner was a very faithful replica of an electric chair Dan had made and lots of weird drawings and things Rebecca had hanging here and there.

We lived in on the first floor of a 10 story building and every Saturday, the Jehovah's witnesses would get in the building and start at the top and work their way down knocking on doors trying to get people to join. Finally one week we got tired of being woken up by the knocking after either being up all night working on projects or studying or going out partying. SO the 3 of us came up with a plan.

We went out the day before and we bought cakess and pastries and made cookies and we got coffee and tea and other things. Then we waited for them to arrive. We didn't go out of our way to dress any weirder than we usually did. Eventually the knock came and I answered the door and they went through their lines and seemed surprised when I told them we would be delighted to hear about anything they had to say. We offered them snacks and tea and we sat and listened to everything they had to say. We would ask them polite questions and listen intently and whenever they would say they had to leave soon we would insist they stay for another cup of tea or they just had to try Rebecca's homemade cookies. When we left them alone while we were getting things we saw their eyes darting about the room and getting more uneasy as we cleared more things off of the coffee table. The 2 black cats we had probably helped a bit too. Finally they said that they really had to go and we took their pamphlets and told them that our class schedule permitting we would certainly stop by their church as soon as we could and that if they came back next week, we would love to have them in for a visit and more refreshments.

They didn't come back for the entire time we spent at the college. We toyed with actually going to the church and saying hi but we figured they would get kicked out if we did.

Welcome, Erik! Damn your photos are funny! Is there a way I can embed the slideshow in my new group Hang With Friends? Come on over and be a member. It's only small because this is the first day. You would be great! What a mind!

Lol  I can see it now.  "Good heavens, what is wrong with that boy!"And then they called the police?  Or just turned the hose on you?

Btw, is the chicken banned from matinees while it's live or after it's fried?  Buy it a ticket just to be safe.

Gosh, I hope you're kidding about that.  But I know there still are ridiculously outdated laws on the books in all states, and nothing is too crazy to happen in America...

Welcome Erik!  How's life for an atheist in Brattlebo?  Wikipedia says that Vermont is the state with the highest percentage of nonreligious people.

Signing Atheists

I was going to set up a group for Deaf Atheists, but figured I'd probably be alone in here if I did that so I figured I'd open it to anyone who knows sign language or even interested in learning it.
