Adam & Eve story on NPR

This morning there was a story on NPR about a small movement within evangelicals to face the idea that maybe, perhaps, they might want to be open to the idea that the vast mountain of well-founded scientific evidence could be taken to suggest that the story of Adam & Eve should not be taken literally if they want to avoid looking like the Catholic Church vs.…See More

harm in liberal christianity?

Hi all,What do you see and the harm in liberal types of christianity?  I was raised in the Lutheran church.  As a teen-ager I realized that I just didn't believe in any religious nonsense.  However, much of my family are still deeply involved with their churches.  While I readily see significant problems or dangers associated with more conservative or fundamentalist types of christianity, I'm really struggling to define the harms of more liberal theologies- I'll talk mainly about Lutheranism,…See More

religion and snow removal

Here in Minneapolis, we're digging out from over a foot of fresh snow this morning.  I noticed an interesting correlation while I was out shoveling.  There are 6 houses on my street and all of the church-y people were out with their snowblowers.  All of the non-churchy households were shoveling.  I wonder if this reflects a sense of self-sufficiency and willingness to do the heavy lifting by your self...any thoughts? See More

"A few years ago, I saw a skating rink that had a sign out for a "Skate with Santa" night. Someone had juxtaposed the letter though, so it read "Skate with Satan.""
