- I've been a non believer most of my life despite growing up in a 'believer' home. My first marriage was to a Christian (Southern Baptist) so I went along with that BS for a while. We divorced about 20 yrs in. For another 4 years I entertained some new age woo.
Now I'm an Athe-Skepti-Humanist type. I'm 'out' but only a little. I am the Director of a department within an organization managed by a very large religious institution. So, while I do not pretend to be a believer I do keep a low profile. A few people know I'm an atheist--but only a few.
My husband and I have a few friends here who are non believers (or agnostic--say, aren't we all, really?). We are not active in any atheist organization. There is a 'meet up' group an hour away from us; but work schedules has kept us from that.
