Panhandle Humanists and Freethought Oasis welcome Recovering From Religion Executive Director Jerry DeWitt to speak on Embracing Identity Suicide: How an evangelical minister went from faith to freedom.
After more than 25 years of Pentecostal ministry, Jerry holds the distinction of being the first graduate of The Clergy Project, a private, invitation-only "safe house" community of current and former ministers who no longer hold the supernatural beliefs of their religious traditions. The Clergy Project was started by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, and former minister and author Dan Barker.
Bring a friend to hear Jerry speak in Amarillo, TX, on Thursday, February 16, from 7-9 pm at the Southwest Branch Amarillo Public Library, Meeting Room A, 6801 W 45th. Admission is free and open to the public; $10 suggested donation.
