Re "GATHERING" OK...how about a little brain storming. We could do a weekend thing, especially if people plan to overnight it or just a full day or even a meal at some restaurant I guess it depends on the numbers. Some…
Thanks for the offer. It wasn't all that bad, as my best friend lives in RD. I spent most of my life living in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and in the bush on the BC coast. I moved from Campbell River, BC, to RD in 1999 no thanks to me believing my ex-girlfriend's fantasy, about her parents needing to connect with their grandkids. It didn't work, as she was still unwilling to join the JWs, and they had kicked her out of their house at 13, to live on the street, because she refused to submit to their delusion. We ended up breaking up, and she, and her kids, moved back to BC, and I stayed (I had burnt a few bridges in BC, and she burnt the rest of my bridges there).
I made friends with a guy in RD (Polish immigrant, and reformed Catholic), and I rented a room at his place, until I got my class 1, in 2002, and moved out to Veteran. I've been here ever since, but regularly visit my bro.
Being stuck in RD, this weekend, I was able to buy some good books (Neil Shubin's "Your Inner Fish", and Jerry A. Coyne's "Why Evolution IS True"), help my bro pick out a good digital SLR camera (same price I paid for my Fuji Finepix, but a much better Nikon D3000.), visit the auto show and auction at the Westerner, and big out on Polish food and sea food! It caused more problems with my employers and co-workers. As well as kept me from some machining projects (some new specialty tools for our shop, and myself).
There's always pluses and minuses in every thing we do.
Hi Don Hogan and welcome to this great meeting place
where religion is recognised for the superstition and people-control fraud that it is and for its inexcusable 2000 years of oppressing women
--- and that God and gods are merely fictions inside human heads.
Hi Don, nice to meet you.
I just got back from Red Deer 1/2 hour ago. I went there last Friday, to deliver a "P" tank, and ended up being stuck there until 9:30pm this evening, as part of the drive shaft on the Western Star I used to deliver the "P" tank with, blew apart.
In case you didn't notice, I drive truck in the patch.
No. Sorry. There are CFI meetings in Calgary, though, if you're looking to get involved. I don't know much about them, but I've looked for a group in Red Deer in the past and didn't find anything.
Occasionally someone in the Alberta Atheists group will mention something about wanting to get together, but so far it sounds like a handful of people would like to attend something, but no-one (including me :) ) wants to do the organizing.
Hi Don,
I've been a member of AN for about six months. I'm not very familiar with Alberta, Canada. Tell me more. That's cool that your son-in-law was an Olympic luge competitor.
Thanks for the comment, Bonnie
