Jared Lardo replied to Dominiq's discussion What's in a name? (If you are atheist BUT your given name has religious meaning)
"As I understand it, "Jared" has no meaning, per se, but it's origin is some bronze-age Jews in the desert--I don't really like that. And who knows how many girls have been scared off by my not having a "normal" name?"

""Mary." About as christian as a name gets. As it was always told to me, mom just really liked the name. So much so she intended to name all of her girls Mary with different middle names and we'd go by our middle names. She got talked…"

Little Name Atheist replied to Dominiq's discussion What's in a name? (If you are atheist BUT your given name has religious meaning)
"Ah, but names have meaning. I suppose it's up to the personal discretion of a person whether or not that name bothers them. In that case, hopefully they're in a place where they can change it."

Kristi Leitholt replied to Dominiq's discussion What's in a name? (If you are atheist BUT your given name has religious meaning)

About Me
I am a free-thinking queerdykefeminist and I do believe that levity is a virtue. Life is too short to mess it all up, and way shorter not to laught at/with thy self.

I read a lot of theory (for graduate school) but for laughs, I love reading PTerry's Discworld Series the most, I always get a good laugh with my favorite DW witches.

I listen to a lot of different types of music but am partial to punk (The Slits, Raincoats, X-Ray Spex, Wendy O), post-punk (Gang of Four, Au Pairs, Siouxsie), electronic (Depeche Mode, Front 242, Ladytron, Goldfrapp), electroclash (Peaches), ambient (Cocteau Twins, The Field, Gui Baratto), among others.

This is my fave music vid of the day, it's hilarious!

Miss Piggy singing Peaches, "Fuck the Pain Away" ha ha ha!

Hello Dominiq;
My wife and I, {a Filipina} are residents of the US Territory of American Samoa.
There are quite a few People from the P.I. living and working here.
It is good to know that there are people like you who are coming out of the closet pertaining to religous, and sexual freedoms.

The Churches here, as I am sure there, continue to dominate the lives, and continue to rape the bank accounts of their poor congregations.

Although the US Constitution states that we live in a free society, free to worship as we see fit, free to believe what ever we see fit, and finally free to practice what ever sexual freedoms we see fit.
This is continuiously being abused by the Churches, and the Village matai {Chief} systems here in the pacific Islands, especially the South Pacific.

Please feel free to visit my blog posts, photos of American Samoa, and general profily.

I will appreicate any and all comments.

Thanks for accepting me as a friend.

Doug Harrington

Hey "Ate" Dominiq!!! I really admire that you are sticking for who you are and what you believe in. The Philippines is not the most tolerating country in terms of other beliefs and sexuality. Nakaka-depress talaga pag nanonood ako ng news sa TFC, the comments from these church leaders and politicians are ridiculous. Where did you attend college there? I hope we can all hang out someday, haven't been there for 9 years. Salamat po!
