No doubt about it. Our planet is in dire peril. Rational people have to stand up and be counted or the endmeme will lead us to extinction. It's a moral imperative of the species: to worry about this life, instead of the next.

Try joining groups like the busy discussion group “ORIGINS” (Origins: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion..... ).
I have been running a long discussion (over 50 posts) there about being "Proud to be Atheist" because we should all be proud,
seeing that atheists and humanists hold the intellectual high ground over the nonsense of the irrational, superstitious god believers.
