Craigart14 replied to D.O.S's discussion New Testament as proof (of anything) of Historical figures/events in the group Scriptural Criticism
"Old thread, but what the heck.  The genealogies are different, I think, because they are inventions by different authors.  Matthew traces the family line only back to Abraham, while Luke goes all the way back to Adam.  Since both go…"

"Roy, Another thing you might point out since they are quoting scripture is that according to scripture God is an untrustworthy bastard. God admits to being deceptive. Check out Ezekiel 14:9 and Thesselonians II 2:11 among others. A supreme being who…"

"Roy, Gravity can be measured. Various experiments have confirmed its existence. It can be observed, though indirectly. It is quantifiable in various ways. How do you quantify/measure God. What experiments have been or can be conducted to determine…"

"That basically concedes a number of myths and stereotypes. What does atheism have to do with fundamentalism or imperialism. Atheist individuals can be either of those but not atheism. And he does care where it comes from. He intentionally…"

About Me
I am married with two children. I consider myself to have always been an atheist. I didn't really know there was a label for my lack of belief until Middle School. It wasn't until after undergraduate studies that I was really aware of anything resembling an atheist community. I didn't know my father was an atheist until I got to high school. He preferred to let my brother and I (we are both atheists) to figure things out on our own. I agree with that approach. I agreed to let my two be raised Catholic with the understanding that that is just one way to view things and I will correct anything I see as blatantly ignorant. I have pointed out to the oldest that the bible is not literally true.
