"My situation precisely! I am considering a move to Forest City NC and wonder if there are any humanists, agnostics, atheists, free-thinkers or other evil-doers in the area. Would like to find a group, or create a group if necessary...."

"Knowledge is never useless as far as I'm concerned. My kids get to hear some of my random knowledge; teens are so highly preoccupied w/ themselves & their tiny worlds so I try to keep it relevant & brief. My hope is that it 'gets…"

"Lived only here and the Chicago area. We traveled around a lot of the midwest when I was younger, though. That and I just read a lot, so I have a lot of mostly-useless knowledge about completely random subjects. I just remember the generalities.…"

"Wyoming is better than the southeast, from what I've seen. It's still a solid red state, though. My big point was that there are no cities. The closest it has are Cheyenne and Casper, each of which are around 50,000 people. The entire…"

"Well, it's mostly one big fundie wasteland. Just like every state though, you get the focused, more educated, urban areas which have vastly higher populations of liberals and free-thinkers. Of course there are states like Wyoming and…"

"You're so right, I forgot totally about those areas. I was doing the same thing I hate, lumping the state into one big fundy wasteland, which is not the reality. Lack of thought on my part!I'm mature enough to admit when I'm dead…"

"Actually, the urban areas of Texas are pretty liberal. Austin and Dallas have Atheists all over the place. There's just so much rural Texas."

"Yeah, north Raleigh, here, and Chapel Hill is really, really liberal, particularly for a North Carolina town. UNC Chapel Hill has been a focus of liberal activities since the 60's."

Hello David, and welcome to this friendly meeting place where we recognise--as you do, being a freethinking atheist--that gods are phoney and religion is used to control people;
and how tragic and inexcusable it is that women and minorities have been oppressed these last two thousand years and more.
