Hello Dr Peter, thanks for your greeting. There are so many sites now inviting exploration of naturalistic views of reality. It’s good to see. You’re so right about the general and mindless self-exemption from thinking which these sites all do their best to address and counter as best they can. I’ve blogged on quite a few of them and try to tune in to what it is that they can do most successfully. Some unfortunately tend to be appropriated from time to time by atheist ‘attack-dogs’ who don’t really understand how irrational beliefs can be reinforced rather than weakened when under siege. I understand their frustration with those who help the world to run on fairytales, but the strategy is misguided. I’ve sometimes seen a tentative post by someone who is probably open to an alternative point of view ruthlessly attacked for its stupidity. Pity. I rate friendliness and inclusiveness as top options for a website wanting to promote naturalistic worldviews.

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.
