Members of Military Atheists might want to know about a move to drastically cut veterans benefits. From Senator Bernie Sanders:

Republicans, some Democrats and President Obama are pushing the concept of a chained CPI, a backdoor way to make substantial cuts in Social Security and benefits for disabled veterans.  Incredibly, they are arguing that the COLAs that seniors receive for Social Security are too generous. Bernie and many economists believe they are not generous enough.

If a chained CPI goes into effect, seniors who are 65 now will receive $650 less a year at 75 and would get $1,000 less a year at age 85.  Veterans who started receiving VA disability benefits at age 30 would have their benefits reduced by over $3,000 a year at age 65.  Bernie recently told the Associated Press, "I do not believe that the American people want to balance the budget on the backs of disabled veterans or widows who lost their husbands in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan."

Hi, I don't know if you've seen this thread: http://www.atheistnexus.org/group/youtubeatheists/forum/topics/can-we-get-a-compendium-of in the YouTube Atheists group, where we've been trying to gather a collection of YouTube atheist channels. It's a bit messy to have them all listed there, with some conversation in between the links and a few duplicates as well. It would be a lot better if we could have this list on the group's front page, in the description, which is pretty much empty right now anyway. This way, all the members will see it first thing when they go to the group, and this would do a better job promoting the channels. I just thought I'd throw that idea out there in case you like it. If you think it's too much work writing the HTML-code for all those links, I'd be more than happy to write that for you and send it to you. Hope you like the idea!

Hi Dane! I'm Kris - I host the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.

I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.
