I think you missed the point that NOTHING taught in school is Truth. If you think you are receiving "facts" that are true, you have stepped from rational thought to religious belief.
Sure it's good to teach kids things…
I think our differences in opinion may come down to your thought that the purpose of schools are to be baby sitters. While I know that some of what I was taught in school in the 70s turned out to be false, at least I know that they taught me the…
If you look at most things taught in schools it's easy to classify them as a waste of money and time. The purpose of schools are to be baby sitters and while they are at it, they might as well try to teach kids something.
While…
I can only speak for myself, but my reasons for opposing teaching "creationism" in schools are:
(1) It's a huge waste of money.
(2) I hate thinking of Indiana teachers wasting valuable class time to actively misinform children.
I…
What kind of pansy ass bitch is so afraid of opposing ideas that they want to ban the teaching of them? If you think atheism is so weak that it cannot stand up to some stupid fundies pushing creationism, YOU are the one showing serious doubts…
Hi, On January 31, 2012, the Indiana Senate voted 28-22 in favor of Senate Bill 89 which would allow the teaching of creationism in public schools. The bill now proceeds to the Indiana House of Representatives In the 1987 case Edwards v. Aguillard…

Greetings, Dane! I notice you haven't been active at Atheist Nexus lately. <sigh> Sometimes it can seem a bit fragmented, with different groups for every interest. Please consider a group that would be perfect with a guy who has "so many interests exploding in so many directions", because we talk about whatever's on our minds, Hang With Friends. :D You might feel more at home.

Hi, I don't know if you've seen this thread: http://www.atheistnexus.org/group/youtubeatheists/forum/topics/can-we-get-a-compendium-of in the YouTube Atheists group, where we've been trying to gather a collection of YouTube atheist channels. It's a bit messy to have them all listed there, with some conversation in between the links and a few duplicates as well. It would be a lot better if we could have this list on the group's front page, in the description, which is pretty much empty right now anyway. This way, all the members will see it first thing when they go to the group, and this would do a better job promoting the channels. I just thought I'd throw that idea out there in case you like it. If you think it's too much work writing the HTML-code for all those links, I'd be more than happy to write that for you and send it to you. Hope you like the idea!
Hi Dane! I'm Kris - I host the Aussie/Kiwi group here on Nexus. I'm also the media and communications consultant for the forthcoming "Rise of Atheism" Global Atheist Convention to be held in Melbourne in March 2010. The Convention is being organized jointly by Atheist Alliance International and the Atheist Foundation of Australia.
I wonder if you could let your members know that tickets for the convention are now available online at the Convention website. We are expecting nearly 3,000 delegates, so this convention is going to be huge.
Confirmed speakers include: Richard Dawkins, AC Grayling, PZ Myers, Dan Barker, Peter Singer, Taslima Nasrin and many more.
Anything you and your fellow Youtubers can do to help us get the word out would be greatly appreciated.
