Loren - I am atheist because I (and everybody else) was born that way and as such I have no interest in 'making' everybody believe the same thing, my only interest is that everyone knows the truth. For me, the faithful are only faithful…

Just what I said, oh thou crisp one ... for all I've seen, the theists aren't much for diversity, not in their general populations, not even in their belief sets. They don't like the GLBT community very much; they clearly don't…

I think theists would love it if all of the atheists shut up for a day. They might even encourage us to shut up permanently. I can see celebrating Drawin Day by wearing something emblematic of evolution - a fossil picture on a T-shirt, a baseball…

I have thought about it, Crispy. There have been times when I took a day of silence because I could. I was in a circumstance where speaking wasn't absolutely necessary and it was a refreshing experience. HOWEVER, I will not keep silence when…

Have we as Atheists got the collective balls to stand alone in our communities and be silent? I personally don't have balls, being born female (just like Hypatia), so it looks like I'll have to sit this one out.

Ya the gays have the same thing. I refuse to shut up for what I don't believe in. That's what they want.

No, I don't want to encourage the view that Darwin was the atheist Jesus especially when I consider Hypatia of Alexandria to be the atheist Jesus. Besides, we have Blasphemy Day (Sept. 30th).

Atheist Day of Silence

This is not just a thought, it's a rally call. Religions have holy days, days where the members must do, or not do, a thing, or things, to show their allegiance to their cause, which they call faith. Often these are called Faith Days. As atheists we do not have these opportunities to show our equally strong and valid No god viewpoint, or to likewise take time off work for that purpose. I propose that we, the atheist community, should collectively select a day in the year when we can show our…See More

In God We Trust Lawsuit Dismissed

Posted on November 9, 2009 at 6:21pm 4 Comments

Just read a passionate post by Hemant Mehta on Friendly atheist about the dismissed “In God We Trust” Lawsuit in which he makes three significant points.
  • "I’m no lawyer… but how is that phrase not an endorsement of religion over non-religion? (Not only that, you know the phrase refers to the Christian…

Welcome to Atheist Nexus. Be sure to check out the GROUPS page to find like-minded people. I've started five groups here, so please join any you think you might be interested in: ARS POETICA, LOVERS OF SHAKESPEARE, HUMANE ATHEISTS, ODDITORIUM, and my newest group, HERCULANEUM: A PLACE FOR MEN.

Herculaneum is a group where men can discuss and explore the ideas, goals, demands, ethics, sexuality, and nature of manhood and masculinity. It is a place where we are free to be ourselves, and discuss the issues most important to our identities as men.

I have already started two discussions to get us going: How do we define manhood in the 21st century? and Rites of Passage: A Lost Ritual?.

This is a private group, and discussions can be viewed by members only. Membership is open to men only. Please check it out.
