"The idea that any one of our religions represents the infallible word of the One True God requires an encyclopedic ignorance of history, mythology, and art even to be entertained, as the beliefs, rituals, and iconography of each of our religions attest to centuries of cross-pollination among them. Whatever their imagined source, the doctrines of modern religions are no more tenable than those which, for lack of adherents, were cast upon the scrap heap of mythology millennia ago; for there is no more evidence to justify a belief in the literal existence of Yahweh and Satan than there was to keep Zeus perched upon his mountain throne or Poseidon churning the seas."

I'll check out your track on GarageBand. If I use it on the podcast, I'll be sure and let you know ahead of time so you can tell folks. :)

Hello Craig,

Be sure and say where we can hear your music!

I can't view your photos for some reason. But it starts with the Beatles, I see, with my all time favorite song in the world.

It also (kind of ironically) looks like it starts with a picture of prayers in the street, (albeit fancier), like one would see in a Hindu nation. Do you suppose that was intentional?

You sound great, can't wait to hear more of your thoughts!

Cheers,
Tracy

Hey Craig,

thanks for the request and of course for the lovely message!

About having pics/videos of my home: yes, I do. I uploaded a short clip about my home on YouTube (I have no idea, if this hyperlinking is going to work out... probably not ;) ) but this is not really interesting.

Maybe a bit more interesting for you are the photos of the Anti-Bush-Demo over here in Vienna (from his visit in 2006), that I put on my page on the Nexus. Take a look, and let me know if you would like me to send you any of the pics.

Good luck with your music anyway!

Best regards and greetings from Vienna...

Cheers,
Aleks

Do you support 'traditional' marriage, vot now ad

Posted by Debra Stevenson on May 21, 2013 at 2:28pm 0 Comments

There is an ad that reads ' Do you support 'traditional' marriage? Vote Now"!  .

No, I don't support 'traditional' marriage because there is no such thing. I support heterosexual and same-sex couples marry each other legally , yes.  'Traditional' marriage promoters largely do not believe that heterosexual women are co-equal to their husbands.  Their only purpose in 'traditional' marriage is to sexually satisfy their husbands if they can and raise children and do all…

War on Christmas in May

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/texas-merry-christmas-bill_n_3312786.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…

Death of a family member

Posted by Larry Taylor on May 20, 2013 at 8:15pm 12 Comments

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…
