Per your last question, there are several Atheist/Freethought groups here in Atlanta. I even met some of them at this year's TAM6 (mid June/Las Vegas).
Been meaning to go to some of the local atheist events and meetings, but I find that with a busy work schedule and family activities, I don't have much time to hang out with other like minded people.

In many respects Australia has many similarities in freedoms to the United States. Australia is probably a bit less up-tight about controlling things such as the press and keeping a grip over how people reflect on their own nation than does the States.

Australia rates 28th on the Reporters Without Borders Press Freedom Index. The United States rates 48th on the same index.

I don't know about you, but I despair over the plethora of fish emblems and xtian clap-trap that the muddle-headed loonies sport on their cars.

At least they aren't burning folks like us at the stake anymore. Not sure how long that will last, however...
