Love Connection on Atheist Nexus

I haven't blogged here in a while and this one won't be like my previous posts, but I've thought about writing this for a while now.Today is exactly one year since I met my future husband in the chat room on this very site! This has been the best year of my life. I have never met anyone who inspires me to be more creative and makes me happier. He's also a damn good rational thinker! There have been quite a few hurdles to get past, the biggest being that we live on different continents, but our…See More

My Missing Cat

Posted on November 22, 2009 at 11:00am 11 Comments

This is not going to be like my usual entries. I like to update this blog regularly- at least weekly- and I usually do it on Sundays. Today, unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to. My cat, Mango, is missing. I am very worried and a bit too preoccupied to focus on anything else. As we atheists say, please keep Mango and me in your thoughts. Thank you.…

Musings On "Meant To Be" And Me

Posted on November 15, 2009 at 11:30am 4 Comments

I take issue with the bandying about of the phrase, “meant to be.” When most people hear it, they let it sink into their brain as if it must be an absolute truth. It clearly has ties to religious thinking, and yet, like the concept of “soul mates”, it seems to have gained a new place in peoples' minds. I know people who believe in god but don't believe in “meant to be.” I know people who believe in “meant to be” but not god. I know people who believe in both, and of course, people like myself… Continue

Stupid Religious Bumper Stickers

Posted on November 7, 2009 at 12:48pm 4 Comments

I saw two stupid things yesterday while driving. One was a leaf collection truck with a loose tarp as its top. The leaves flew behind it as the truck bumbled ignorantly along, creating whirlwinds of fall foliage in its wake. That was pretty stupid. I also saw a dumb, religious bumper sticker. It read, “My boss is a Jewish carpenter.”

I hate bumper stickers. I don't know why people put them on… Continue

I'm glad Mango made it back home safely, as for Gay Marriage I ran across this;

"If you think that marriage is purely a religious affair, then it should be removed from State recognition completely.

If the State recognizes it as a "legal" arrangement, then it should in no way discriminate against participating citizens.

I say, remove the term "marriage" from all legal documents, or stop discriminating based on the prejudices of your forefathers. Otherwise, keep your religion to yourself, and stop trying to push it into a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

'Cause it's not just "your" people -- it's ALL people." --author unknown

There ya go.

I'm sorry, I don't hate you. I could have positioned those sentences much better. I tried to be overly clever in simply commenting on how it is, indeed, quite weird that you'd dreamed that. I'm sorry for any hurt feelings I may have caused you by this.

Got around to looking at my comments and now I must wonder... You had a dream that some random internet dude told you he hated you... You were accurate; that was weird--with a hint of fascinating.
