I've been a soldier in the US Army for over 20 years now. Working with the young troops keeps me feeling young. I'm raising two daughters that I had baptized and had them receive first communion in…Continue

I enjoy my job very much. I have never been a trigger man and I don't think I'd have the stomach to kill as much as the SF guys do. That said, I'm satisfied that the intelligence I provide leads them to kill or capture religious…

I'm a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in the US Army. I work as an intelligence technician. I'm currently serving the last month of my second one-year deployment to Afghanistan. I came in the Army in July 1989 when I was still 17. I started off as…

My dog tags say Atheist. Of course, they are not Army issued dog tags, but I wear them anyway.

If loud pipes do not alert people to my presence (making me more conspicuous), then who is doing all of the bitching about loud pipes? Maybe SUV driving soccer/hockey moms on cell phones? I'm OK with noise ordinances. I'll just avoid…

Thanks JJ. My Towel is a memorial for Douglas Adams, author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. My slow internet connection makes changing my profile pic a bitch, so it's been up longer than I had planned.

Both mine and my wife's Harleys have performance (yes loud) pipes. Like the T-Shirt says, "I hope my loud pipes don't disturb your phone conversation." The day I can commute to work without getting cut off is the day I might…

I'm the same way. My best riding buddy is a staunch Atheist as well. His wife, like mine says I shouldn't be so vocal about it. It sucks that now he has moved away to California. My small group of bikers are pretty cool and for the most…

I know exactly what you mean. So many bikers are paradoxical. They are anti-establishment AND right wing!?! Weird. May be because bike clubs were first started by ex-military folks. I am thinking about joining a club with nothing but right wingers,…

Why Are So Many Modern Bikers Conservative Right-Wingers?

Maybe it's me. I live in a world full of Conservative Christians. Being a soldier and biker in Texas keeps me surrounded. So when I venture online to look for fellow bikers to ride or share information with, I get lured into discussions on politics and religion. It seems that so many of these biker sites love nothing more than bashing Obama, abortion rights, immigrants, and gun control. What's more is I find that the basis of their gripes are easily disproved with a quick visit to Snopes or…See More

Witty Responses to Praying Over Meals

Posted on September 9, 2009 at 1:00pm 9 Comments

I'm a novice blogger, so forgive me if I break etiquette here:

I'm a US Soldier serving in Afghanistan, which means I eat most of my meals next to co-workers. Some of them are outwardly religious and they pray quietly over their meals (and maybe mine too). Anyway, I'm looking for a fun way to make them think. Once I asked a friend who prayed over his food at my house if he thought that I had poisoned it. That was kind of fun. I'm looking for something non-insulting, but fun and thought… Continue
