Chris, per your John Brown video post, if you are interested in those topics, please consider joining my group, FOUR SCORE AND SEVEN YEARS AGO: American history, politics, and culture: a non-partisan look at our past and how it influences our lives today.

I just finished watching your video on John Brown, thank you for reminding us all of the contribution he and all those who stood with him made to ending the oppression/slavery of black people in America. Yes, he was a religious man however he was way ahead of the religious thinking of the Old Testament that endorsed and encouraged slavery. As a non -believer Brown deserves to be recognized for his stand in the cause of freedom.

You might try www.meetup.com They have all kinds of groups and you can even start your own. That is how I found out about the Santa Rosa group. Just type in atheist or freethinker or whatever else you might be interested in to see if there is a group around.

Hi Chris, I do not know of any organization in marin. I have been to an atheist group in Santa Rosa once. I think there were four people that met at a restaurant and the group leader was not even there that day. I have been to the San Francisco Atheist group. I think it is www.sfatheist.org A group that I like and went to their convention in San Francisco is www.ffrf.org

Sacred Secularity?

This essay was just published on State of Formation, primarily a site for inter-religious discussion among theists in educational institutions.  The premise won't appeal to every atheist (or theist of course) but those of us who live and work with theists need to find some new, creative ways of presenting a viable alternative.  This is one I offer.See More

"I may have a different take on this. As a musician and former Evangelical, I understand and appreciate the "soundtrack" of my indoctrination. It took me a few years of estrangement, but I was eventually able to enjoy CCM and Southern…"

Signing Atheists

I was going to set up a group for Deaf Atheists, but figured I'd probably be alone in here if I did that so I figured I'd open it to anyone who knows sign language or even interested in learning it.
