About Me
Creative, lefty liberal bohemian type who is also staggeringly individual! Of course! Doesn't like being told what to do but in most other contexts is well mannered and can feign obedience. My favourite aphrodisiac is intelligence. Well it's nice to put in something from left field.
Began my turn from religion at 8. By 12 I was struggling to find a way to rebel against Bible class. Which was when I knew where I stood. I haven't moved since. Also something of a childhood feminist, throwing my hymn book down onto the floor at Sunday school (again about 8), saying in a loud voice "All these songs are about men!". I was reprimanded in front of everyone for abusing my hymn book.
So to sum up, I can see very clearly that fundamentalist religions are about dividing men from women and asserting one gender as transcendent and superior to the other which is symbolically tied to the earth and nature by biology. Religion sees the body, the earthly and the material as unclean, in need of control, and our wonderful senses as doorways to 'sin'. The only people who can then possibly transcend the realm of dirt and death therefore have to be men.
The moment you drop belief in transcendence all of the above becomes foul and dangerous nonsense which deforms us all. This is my position. Take me on at your peril!! (I'm really quite sweet underneath!)
Oh, big fan of blasphemy. Definitely want to go there with my artwork. The trouble is Islam though isn't it? I will insist on being an equal opportunities blasphemer...I mean, it's only fair.

An expedition to Mount Sinai. For research purposes.

I climbed Mount Sinai at New Year 2011 and was very disappointed I didn't receive my own set of tablets. An even more disappointed Nigerian who climbed before me held out his arms at the top and announced his presence to the Lord. Because of course you're a lot closer to Him at the tops of mountains. He doesn't have to stretch as far I suppose But there's not a lot to do in the desert except become psychotic. This unimpressed Bedouin let me take his picture while the sun rose at the top on Jan.1st 2011. About 6am. Maybe that's god's graffitti next to him. Yeah, that'll be it.

Thank you for leaving me a comment.  I was having a problem on this forum with trolls.  I had to shut down two threads.  I wrote to moderators and as them to delete the troll posts but they didn't do it.  So this influences what I am willing to post.

In the broader sense I am fighting most serious battles on the ground.  I am fighting for my life.  That I might finally prevail, I must keep details concealed.

Ok Cheryl,

We are not completely similar. I would not post a photo of myself for any reason imaginable. But that probably shows your good mental health and my bad.

Sleep of reason quote and Shakespeare quote also among my favorites along with Hitch and Ali. She is my heroine also. And I am not big on heros.

Reading your posts?

Reading your mind is more like it. Not a sports fan are you? I used a cliche and a sports analogy. Really trite stuff. But is was as foreign to you as an arse is to me.

Cheryl,

I was talking about the Hitchens post. You have written other things that resonated with me too. And like all dummy asses I think you are smart when your ideation and my ideation coincide.
