Craig's List Ranting

Sometimes I like to visit CL - parts of it are like a Springer episode in words. And sometimes I like to post something to get people all riled up - and to make myself feel better. It's very cathartic! Lately, with the 40th anniversary of the walk on the moon, there have been quite a few posts about it being a hoax. So in response to those posts, I posted this:I'm just curious as to how many of you, hoax supporters and non-hoax supporters alike, buy into religion? Because THAT is the biggest…See More

The Bible Ladies

Posted on July 16, 2009 at 10:48pm 4 Comments

Back when I was still basically a Christian but starting to question things, we moved from AZ to AR. My daughter started kindergarten in a tiny school, and all was going well until she started having dreams about Satan. I had never told them about Satan, so to hear of her nightmares, in addition to her recent propensity for pointing out who was going to hell in certain TV shows, was alarming to me. Upon questioning her, I found out who was filling her head with such fears: The Bible Ladies.… Continue

My Big Dream.

Posted on July 8, 2009 at 11:28pm 2 Comments

I've had this dream ever since I noticed a little subdevelopment go in south of our town. Within a short amount of time, it had a state sign announcing it as the town of "Saddlebrook". I was aghast that this tiny little spot could suddenly appear and call itself a town, with the state's blessings (!) in such a short amount of time! And you can't even see any houses! Just roads! (I'm sure there are houses somewhere....like over the hill or something...surely....).

So that got me… Continue

My first Mormons!

Posted on July 6, 2009 at 11:54pm 5 Comments

We've lived here 10 years without a visit, and 2 days ago, they finally came. Well, one of them visited, the other was visiting the Reformed LDS guys across the street. My clean-cut visitor sweetly enquired as to why I was an atheist: was I mad at God? Did something happen? One event? I told him that it was a process of educating myself and actually READING the Bible - it is so full of contradictions and downright lies. He agreed, "Yes, it IS full of contradictions, isn't it?" I thought to… Continue

Revenge

Posted on May 23, 2009 at 6:47pm 5 Comments

Over the past several years, we have had several people really f us over. We had the "pastor" and his wife rent from us - they let a 2 month old baby die in the house (prosector said the baby had not been fed or even touched in 12-15 hours), they didn't pay us rent for many months, and they trahsed the place beyond repair. We had to declare bankruptcy over that one. Then there was the Christian business owner, who f-ed us for 30K (I talk about that in another blog). We are still trying to… Continue

Tasha is sorry she couldn't make it Wednesday. I think we will all get along well. We are moving next weekend, so this March is gonna be a wash, but we should get together and play Cranium soon. It's been sad not having any couple friends, and we are basically geeking out with anticipation.

War on Christmas in May

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/21/texas-merry-christmas-bill_n_3312786.html?utm_hp_ref=politics

i've got no problem with everyone saying "merry christmas" on christmas day.  however, they've turned it into an entire holiday season where it lasts a month or more.  in those situations it should be perfectly acceptable to say "happy holidays" or call it a…

My first funeral as an atheist

Posted by Two Cult Survivor on May 21, 2013 at 11:30am 0 Comments

I posted the bulk of this on another thread, but wanted to add some context separately.

I finally confronted my faith and embraced the fact of my atheism late last August, 2012. Days after I revealed my "epiphany" to a few friends who knew me from another message board, my sister died from Lou Gehrig's Disease (which pissed her off because she hated catching a disease from someone she never f---ed).

THAT was my sister, understand? She was a beautiful, life-loving, potty-mouthed…

Death of a family member

Posted by Larry Taylor on May 20, 2013 at 8:15pm 7 Comments

OK. I am venting. My mother died two weeks ago. She was a “god fearing christian.” Before her death she refused all medical treatment. She wanted to be left alone. She even refused to speak with my brother who is a methodist minister. He is a pip, let me tell you! I suspect she did not believe, but a woman born in her time could not and did not state her actual beliefs. This is the opening salvo to all christians; FUCK YOU! I had so many people come and tell…

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

Posted by Christy Stewart on May 20, 2013 at 2:17pm 6 Comments

This probably should not have shocked me as much as it did (especially since I am in Texas). I actually thought my coworkers were playing a joke on me because they know I am an atheist. Sadly, this was no joke. This actually happened.

I work in a psychiatric hospital. The doctors who admit patients are general MDs. (Psychiatrists see patients after admission) Yesterday evening we received several calls from irate parents. A new doctor who was doing admissions yesterday actually…
