"I don't know really any Black Atheists personally, but I'm well aware of Charlie. I watch "The Atheist Experience" and he has been calling in for the past three weeks on the show. He never really says why he opposes marriage…"
One of the things that truly bugs me about religion is when many of their followers go around handing out little booklets on why their religion is so awesome and how I definitely should convert to their beliefs. So, last week, while I was at work, a man was going around passing around some Christianity booklets. If you don't really know me, I really hate religion, especially Christianity. A lot of the time, I like to humor myself by accepting the booklets from these religious nuts and giving…See More
"It wasn't really that hard to escape religion because I had always questioned it even when I considered myself a Christian. As far as telling people around, I do have some friends who just don't care and just see me as the same person no…"
"Speaking as an African American, I think it's because most of us have grown up in homes that are predominantly Christian and find solace in those beliefs. Very few of us tend to look deeper into the flaws that are ever so present in religion. I…"

What brings me here? Well, I am an atheist (obviously) and I was hoping me like-minded people that I can have logical/rational conversations with. All of my friends, at least most of them, are Christians and it can be a bit intimidating when I'm the only person who opposes their beliefs. I'm a very nice guy, but I can be a bit cynical at times. I also don't talk much, I'm more of a thinker, but when I do speak, I almost always have something worth saying. I was raised in a predominantly Christian home growing up, but I slowly became an atheist towards the end of high school. Upon entering college, I immediately became an atheist; thank you Sociology...that and reading of the babble (Bible). I listen to everyone's perspective on things because I feel everyone has something good to say; of course, when I read the posts on "Fundies Say the Darndest Things!", I die a little inside. All-in-all, I hope to have some very intelligent conversations with people and maybe even meetup.
