"  I might suggest The Charnel House.  Located in Logan Square, it's an ex-funeral home that is now a multimedia arts building.  I've done a few shows there and like Billy and Vicky, the owners, a great deal.   The…"

Need Help Finding Venue for Fundraiser

Hoping someone can help me out here.  I am working with a skeptic organization to organize an event and we are having difficulty finding an appropriate venue. We need a free or cheap space for roughly 30 -40 people in Chicago or the near 'burbs.  Part of the event is a demonstration involving food that is from a very specialized menu so we want to bring in our own food.  We'd like to have alcohol available as well. Most of the places I've found have a room charge of $500 or more OR require that…See More

So, What Do Christians Believe Anyway?

Copied from my blog at http://liberalatheisthippie.blogspot.comI had a discussion recently with a fellow non-believer in which he said that he didn’t think Christians truly believed as they say they do.  I found this to be an interesting assertion.  It is something I have actually considered before and the conclusion that I came to was that yes, people do truly believe but they don’t necessarily believe in what they say or even what they…See More

Children, Atheism and Religion

Copied from my blog at http://liberalatheisthippie.blogspot.com When my son came home a few days ago and announced, "Charlie's* an atheist like me!", I felt my chest tighten.  After a deep breath, we had a short discussion about personal beliefs and why some people might get upset with him if their beliefs are different from his and then I reminded him that he is still learning and suggested he might want to hold off discussing religion at…See More

Atheist Families Meetup Group

Hi All.  Just wanted to throw this out there for anyone looking for a family group.  I recently started a meetup named Fox Valley Secular Parenting.  So far, we've done primarily park outings with the kids and parents' coffee outings.  We'd love to have more folks join us!  Meetups are generally in Elgin/St. Charles/Batavia.  If you're in the area or willing to drive, check us out! …See More

Cara F. replied to desirefirst's discussion why does there need to be racist atheism?

Yay! We have one a week from tonight, as an FYI. And another FYI, I thought you'd like to know it's a bit difficult to read some of the lettering on your page (pink letters).

Yes reading the bible can work wonders. Most of the bad bits never get mentioned. Take a look at my Nexus discussion site "Origins" where there are several entries called "Helping believers to know their bible better".

So welcome to Atheist Nexus----the world of reasoning, rational sense, and good friends. Join goups and enjoy.
