No, I'm afraid that I did not know of you until I ran across you here. I doubt that you would know my daughter since she teaches at the middle school level and has only been there for a little over three years now. I'm very sorry for what the school system did to you & it is a crime that they should be punished for, not you. I hope that your situation improves & that what has happened does not disuade you from teaching. You are needed!

I know Morristown politics well & it is sad that cultural ignorance and bigotry can overrule fairness, tolerance & discrimination. Hamblen Co. is a corrupt, backward, cultish & neptotistic environment and I have experienced the negative political aspects many times myself. I'm not as courageous as you are, sadly I remain silent and invisable with my ideologies for fear of the same repercussions that you have experienced first hand. I remain a coward because I do business in Hamblen Co. & my daughter is also a teacher in Hamblen Co. I am afraid of the publicity that my Atheism would undoublty gain with the local community & the attention it would bear on my business and my daughter. So, I continue to work behind the scenes to network with forward thinking people (which are few) in hopes of helping change in some ways.

Thanks for the invite to ASK, I may try to be part of that at some point, but I also do business with the Knox Co. school system. I am always in a precarious position & that's why I remain invisable.

 

Just found you as I have just joined Atheist Nexus. Read you profile and I'm appalled at what happened to you but not surprised. I grew-up in Morristown and attended West High. I live in Dandridge and thought that I was the area's biggest Heathen.......so, I'm glad to meet you. Any hope of winning the Lawsuit?

Hello. Thanks for the blog comment, those are 4 subjects I do really need to discuss with him. I think he'll come around to going with me, he just has an annoying tendency to not think about things til later so I'm hoping he'll stop and think and decide to go.

Thanks for your sweet compliment, but yeh I am over fifty. My doctor terms it my chronological age and thinks that physically and mentally I'm much youger. I think it is because I do not sterotype myself, I have a youthful spirit and I enjoy my vitality, I enjoy people a little younger than I am.
