An ocean parted

Words spoken, transcribed

A new pack of lies for the telling

Need some Laws, need some powerbroking

Destroy their common will

Who are you?

Who are you gonna be?

Slave, or free man?

You are the one who has to make the choice

To open your eyes, or close up your mind

The sheep are bleating

All in key

To a song of misery

And their drudgery

They will never be freed

Until they choose… Continue

Miscellaneous Thoughts (II)

This was going to be just a reply in my comments list, but I felt it warranted a fresh blog post.

If it wasn't clear, the point I was trying to raise in my last post is pretty much the one that Kristy made in the comments to that post - that the only meaning life has is the one we give it. (which also means that we get to choose).

On that theme, with this choice in some respects comes great opportunity, but also in some sense great responsibility. I'd like to hope that… Continue

24 years...

That's how long I've been around on this earth.

It really is amazing to think that I've been around for nearly a quarter of a century now. From my perspective, this seems like a long time, but I know through my conscience that it's not (I'm currently reading Dawkins' The Ancestor's Tale, and this helps very much in putting things into perspective).

In abandoning Christianity I seem to have inadvertently rediscovered my great love of reading.… Continue

The Room...

In a room you can build a home

Plant the seed

And life begins to grow

When it's outgrown life inside

How will it live

And will it survive

On its own outside...

I wonder if the world is just the same

And does the life that I knew still remain?

Journey to the life outside

Return to those I left behind...

Journey to the life outside

Return to those I left behind...

Because I'm ready to go now

Yes I'm ready to go…

No Nathaniel, no

There must be more to life

There has to be a way

That we can restore to life

The love we used to know...

Hey Cameron, don't know if you noticed on the Aussie group page, but Christopher Hitchens, author of "God is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything" is speaking at the Opera House at the beginning of October. Tickets are on sale now. It's a bit exy (around $65 I think) but I thought you might be interested. (The link to buy tickets is on the Aussie page).

I've started eight groups here, so please join any you think you might be interested in.

THE KNIFE & FORK is a group for anyone who has a strong interest or mild curiosity in food, cooking, eating, drinking, and nutrition.

HUMANE ATHEISTS is a group for people who are interested in trying to live a humane life by understanding the issues surrounding animal welfare.

CONSUMER ETHICS was created to help us understand how our purchasing power can help or harm the world around us.

LINGUAPHILES & SESQUIPEDALIANS, a group for people who love languages, words, and grammar.

ARS POETICA is a group for those who love poetry, anyone who is just curious, and everyone in between.

LOVERS OF SHAKESPEARE is a group for fans of the Bard. Topics are open to just about anything Shakespeare.

ODDITORIUM is a group dedicated to the all that which is bizarre and unusual in the world.

Hello
Welcome to Atheist Nexus with its 10,600+ good friends and discussion groups.
Among the groups, may I suggest you try the busy group “ORIGINS: Universe, Life, Humans, Evolution, Religion.....” with its 160 commonsense topics whose discussions rebuff religious nonsense. You will be welcome.

Hi Cameron, welcome to Atheist Nexus. I'd like to invite you to join our Aussie, Kiwi and South Pacific Atheists group.

Please feel free to drop in anytime to add a comment, join in a discussion or to start a topic of your own.

You might also like to befriend my forum co-host, The Irreverent Mr Black, who is an ex fundie and Bible school dropout. I'm sure he'll be pleased to counsel you through any transition process - or at least help you laugh at his!

In fact, we're all here to help and support, so just sing out if you need anything.

Cheers
Kris
